Okay My New School is called Lahden Yhteiskoulu (Lahden)

I have been at this school for about 4 weeks and I think I can make an opinion on what it is like, it is Awesome. I love it. It is really big, it offers a lot of subjects and courses. The teachers are friendly. AND IT HAS BEAN BAGS everywhere, like you can just sleep in the hallway on one of these bean bags, and no one will bother you. I have used these bean bags twice now both times in the same place, it is called Manala (English Translation = Hell). Manala is like the study place for all the Lukio (Senior School) students. This place is like the name suggests, it is really cool. It is always dimly lit for people to sleep with lamps on the study desks for when a student is studying. So when a student does not have class, he or she will go down to Manala and study........... HAHAHAHA. As if they study, they sleep, watch youtube or listen to music while on the BEAN BAGS. This of course means that the bean bags are always full. It is a fight just to get to the best bean bags. A very mature fight as the girls are not very strong, most being only 155 cms and have the frame of twigs.

That is another difference.

As I have said before, I come from AN ALL BOYS SCHOOL.

Let me hit you with some facts there are about 1100 students at this school. 300 - 400 of those are senior students, the rest are grades 6-9. The female to male ratio is for every 1 male, there are .......................................................................................... 3 FEMALES!

About 75% of the school is females.

So every class I have there are more girls than boys. There is even a classroom where there are NO BOYS and 30 girls. ahem, 30 GIRLS!

And I am going to say it. They are very nice looking girls (PLEASE Don't think any less of me, I am only human)

Like I won't date any of them because I must follow the rules that rotary as placed, but I can appreciate beauty when I see it. And anyway having a girl friend seems to much of a hassle.

And I of course I treat them like the AUSTRALIAN GENTLEMEN I AM! I open doors for them, I hold doors open for them. I let them move up in line for the food while we wait and I say G'DAY to them in the hallway and now I think I have mastered the art of being truly gentlemanly, all because I was surrounded by girls.

I have also noticed that many of the other boys also act differently than the boys at my Australian School. So, being the scientist and mathematician I am, I have been studying the differences between the behaviours of the male student population at Lahden, and comparing my findings with what I have found from my last school.

And

I have concluded That...

The boys at my school did whatever they thought, and would act really weird compared to the boys here. The boys at this school, they are much more mature, all they do is just sit down and talk to each other like mature adults.

I can appreciate this as I am not asked ridiculous questions such as whether I ride a kangaroo to school, or if I like pineapple on pizza or whether water is wet. And no kids are trying to surround me while T-Posing, singing the opening theme from HALO.

But, that was a lot of fun. I loved doing all the weird and silly stuff. I am not saying that it is necessarily boring at Lahden, it is interesting and fun in its own unique way.

Now I know comparing an Australian All Boys Boarding school to a Finnish Co-Ed School that requires students to have a average score of 9.17 or higher, which is pretty much having an average of A- or higher. SO they are pretty elite in terms of the students. Yeah comparing the two schools is pretty difficult.

Another major positive about Lahden is that they have a lunch, that is a buffet and it is FREE!!!!! Well it is actually paid by the taxes of the Finnish people, so you would pay eventually, BUT who cares about that, the food is delicious and I love it. I have had to be aware of my eating style, because I don't want to appear to be a gentlemen without manors. No, so I eat with my knife and fork and in the most not messy way possible. And it is really hard.

The only negative is that it this school is massive, it is 5 stories and I don't like stairs. I am built to run long distances on flat or slightly angular hills. Not up stairs. Like far out. Okay I am fine going up 2 flights of stairs, but anything more I die. This is because I am wearing clothing that is made for someone to survive negative 10 degrees Celsius, so I get pretty hot.

Other than that, I am having a fantastic time at this school.

Kiitos for reading!

Stay Awesome

P.S. I am hoping to post from now on every Saturday my fantastic exploits in Finland, and maybe another one during the week when I feel like it.

This was a picture I found on the internet, it is not mine. You can probably tell because it is not covered in snow. But it is a cool building. I promise I will take more photos, Link to image https://www.itahame.fi/Uutiset/art2465214
